SQRATCH KARNIVAL 2
SEPTEMBER 30, 2005

Ok first off I want to thank everyone who made it out to the second Sqratch Karnival on Friday night! It was a success because of everyone who came out and showed his or her love and support!
Now let’s get right to it. Things started off slow for the first hour; it was just me (Crop Diggie), Spinner T., DJ Rodney and DJ Mista Ed. We were standing there saying “Damn I hope peeps start to show up soon”. Then comes in Dj Nick Nack carrying a six of Guinness Stout and some Bavu Blakes wax (Thanks for the wax! Bavu you are off the chain mayne) ready to get the night started. Around 10 or so Dj Manila Ice and Taboo stroll through looking like they were ready to cause havoc. And that is just what they did!
Them dudes wasted no time, they went straight to the decks and started cutting like fiends. Manila looked like he just got off of work, so I guess son was just letting off a little bit of steam, but what every it was he was letting off, dude came with the straight butter cuts (check the pictures below). Taboo was like a little kid in a candy store when he got to touch the new Xone:02 Allen and Heath mixer Dj Rodney had just purchased and brought through for the event.
If you haven’t messed with one yet, it is well worth the try, that shit is expensive as hell though, about 5 bills! Yeah the price is crazy, but the fader is butter nice, and is outfitted for just about everything that you need to rock a show, club and beyond! Good looking out on bringing the Allen & Heath and Tascam mixers Rodney!
About 10:30 is when things started getting crazy. My man Flynn D. showed up with some of his peeps. Some of them dudes looked a little scary, but they turned out to be harmless and ready to party. Dudes brought in a case of hiney brew (a SSDJ fav! Don’t for get) and then it was on.
Cats who were not Dj’s were in the back flowing in ciphers (Cartoon, Flynn D., and Lil J), palm trees were being passed around and flowing in the air. Some body else ran out and brought in more brew and the next thing you know yours truly was, truly fucked off for the rest of the night. With the music flowing through the speakers and all the Dj’s taking turns on the seven deck set up, the ladies started showing up after coming from a happy hour, more Dj’s and the next thing you know, we had certified SSDJ party going on up in the Music Lab.
So, if you wanted to go and debated about it, you should have came through. If you just forgot about it, you missed a good session and a nice party. Keep in tune for what is in store for the October Karnival, we are going to change things up a little bit for the last hour, we will keep you posted.
